Climate Overview
As you explore, you will enjoy an average of 11 hours of sunlight a day and a mild temperature whenever you visit, as there is little seasonality. If you don't like to wear heavy clothing and rain doesn't scare you, you'll like that "tropical" feeling. Cooling down as you climb higher, you can reach the top of Mount Britton or El Yunque peak, reaching over 1,000 meters. But as you cool down, be ready for more cloud cover and rain showers, as rainfall increases while you climb, bringing frequent low intensity showers. While it is wetter in the rainy season, such as October, you won't mind getting wet when you realize the importance of the rain for the Forest's rivers and all who use them - plants, animals, visitors, and Puerto Ricans living outside the Forest. You may even enjoy being soaked, but bring a raincoat in case you have had enough soaking by the 4th shower of the day! Remember, 100 billion gallons of rain fall on El Yunque Forest every year.
