3. On slopes and in valleys
4. Provides nesting habitat for endangered Puerto Rican
parrot.
5. Over 50 species of trees
6. Rainfall: 100-180” a year
7. Temperature less than 73 degrees Fahrenheit
8. Covers 8,200 acres (30% of the forest)
C. Sierra Palm:
1. On steep slopes and along stream beds
2. Found at different elevations on steep, eastern slopes
3. Unstable soils
4. Covers 4,800 acres (17% of the forest)
6. Rainfall: Over 90” a year
7. Temperature: < 71 degrees Fahrenheit
D. Cloud (Also known as Dwarf forest or Elfin woodland)
1. Lower rainforest ecological life zone
2. Found only on higher peaks and ridges
3. Above 2,500’
4. Subject to extreme exposure
5. Covers 1,000 acres (4% of the forest)
6. Rainfall: 150-200” a year
7. Temperature - 65 degrees Fahrenheit average
E. Riparian Vegetation
